Lisa McCutchan, Capriccio Conductor
Lisa McCutchan grew up in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Since the seventh grade, McCutchan had her goals set on becoming an orchestra director. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1982 and a Master’s Degree in Music Eduacation from the Penn State University in 1984. McCutchan came to San Antonio in 1983 and began teaching at Eisenhower Middle School in the North East Independent School District. Since her third teaching year, McCutchan’s orchestras have consistently won sweepstakes in the UIL Concert/Sight Reading Competition and “Best in Class” at numerous statewide music festivals. In 1997 McCutchan opened Barbara Bush Middle School and achieved similar success during her tenure there. In the school year 2003-2004 McCutchan opened Rawlinson Middle School and assumed the orchestra director position at Sandra Day O’Connor High School in the Northside Independent School District. Due to the growth of both programs she is now assigned to O’Connor High School and is assisting at the cluster middle schools. McCutchan is an active member of the following professional music organizations: TMEA, TODA, TMAA, and Mu Omicron, and has recently begun a five year term on the Executive Board of the Texas Orchestra Directors Association. She has served as an adjudicator across the state of Texas in UIL events and festivals, served as clinician for both teachers and students, and conducted region orchestras across the state of Texas. Aside from teaching, she is married to David McCutchan and has a twelve-year-old son named Bryan. |
